Koala Remixed

'Koala Remixed' contains 18 remixes by different artists - and yes: track nr. 18 is a remix by yours truly: Shadowland (brunk Remix) :-)

Koala is a Belgian trip hop band, with lots of interesting collaborations and guest vocalists. The track I remixed (Shadowland, from their last album 'Gravity') has vocals by Jean Bosco Safari (www.jeanboscosafari.be).

You can listen to the full track on the brunk myspace page: www.myspace.com/brunkville (it's the first track in the player).

brunk - winter ep

brunk - winter ep A nice and quiet new brunk release...

brunk - insert coins to continue

brunk, but not quite as you know it... This should be played at high volume: preferably in a residential area! "A DIY eighties soundtrack filled with dusty hip hop beats, grooving bluesrock and straight forward metal riffs, heroic lo-fi guitar soloing and weird synth sounds..." _[More...]

brunk - none of the above

Some more brunk songs recorded between 2003 and 2005. Contains some vague questions like: is Ralph goodlooking? Are you a writer? And what is that writing device? Is there trash on this recording? And who the hell is Klaas? Can I sing, or shouldn't I? Is this too mellow? And what's finally lost? _[More...]

brunk - sept 2003

The music on 'sept 2003' was made somewhere between 2000 and... september 2003 :) This is the more accessible, melodic & poppy side of brunk. DIY homerecording, mostly instrumental. The first brunk release on the wonderful Dutch WM Recordings netlabel! _[More...]

brunk - spondylitis ankylosans

The very first brunk netrelease, on the Mexican Dog Eared Records netlabel. 12 rough improvisations on electric guitar + loopstation, ...sometimes terse, often abrasive, a chemistry set burping red and orange flares over a cheerful radioactive green background.... _[More...]

Invertebrata 4

Invertebrata 2

"(...) or how I learned to stop worring about tuning my guitar and love the mad, crooked improv of Bert Vanden Berghe (a.k.a. brunk). Genre splicing goes beyond post modern here (or even post mortem), so, this is not quite your average atonal brut jazz folk with some touches of underground rock album (...)" (Eduardo Padilla)

Passive Cable Theory

Passive Cable Theory is hard to describe, but it's core is: noise(s) & de(con)structing sounds. A loud & malfunctioning broken free-something. Or not. "This album contains 9 tracks full of porous and thick textures to the ear, a world of color with stiff harmonies within disjointed tempos, travelling aboard blasting strings to create hard-to-imagine environments."
