A while ago I started to upload some of my older recordings and demos on bandcamp.
For instance: the very first brunk demo I recorded in 1998 (yeps, it’s THAT old): ‘le néant‘!
From the very beginning with ‘brunk’ I wanted to do everything in a ‘DIY’ manner, and refused to be pinned down to any style (one could argue, of course, that I had no style at all). ‘le néant‘ sounds really naieve and weird, even clumsy, badly recorded and with a high kitsch factor: so nothing much has changed ever since ;-)
Everything was recorded with one cheap microphone, and/or with the standard (minijack) audio-in port of a 160 Mhz Macintosh Performa (which I had because I was studying graphic design), and somehow ‘mixed’ on those tiny little built-in speakers, and a pair of small walkman (yes: walkman…) headphones, taped together not to fall apart – hence this result… Funny to hear this back now, 15 years later already! Time flies indeed.
By the way: thanks to Sebas and Thomas!
(They know who they are and what I mean)
