The Return Of Something Formerly Known As Something Else

Lots and lots (and lots) of DIY cutting-and-pasting of sounds & samples, and then some more chopping and slicing of beats and bits… (still: some guitars here and there!). A strange & naieve & wayward lo-fi collision of avant garde, drum’n’bass, industrial and nonsense.

Released 30 April 1999 on CD-R, now available digitally on Bandcamp.

Fun fact: this album was one of the contenders of ‘Demopoll’ (in radioshow ‘Radar’), where demos were played on Belgian radio station Studio Brussel, somewhere in 2000, then presented by Roos Van Acker. This even included a small interview-by-telephone live on radio.  The best part: the project name ‘The Return Of Something Formerly Known As Something Else’ got fully (and flawlessly!) announced on national radio 🙂 And then the track ‘Cut-And-Dry’ was meant to be played, but the track ‘Titan Wise’ got played instead (which is a much weirder track). Oops.
When another candidate was asked what he thought of this other demo, his reaction was: ‘a bit strange, isn’t it?’ – which totally nails it of course!
